ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the importance of the safety-as-a-system approach to manage air supply and provide greater margin of safety for firefighters in the U.S. He claims that the safety system works in many hazardous professions and needs to be incorporated in fire operations. Furthermore, it mentions that the safety systems require that the fire truck stays parked until all personnel are seated and belted.
