ABSTRACT
The author reflects on his first month as executive director of the American Rose Society (ARS) in October 2007. He states that he had a magnificent time and had learned a lot. He says that the members of the society are passionate and dedicated and its leaders care deeply about the organization's mission. He also realizes that there is still a lot to learn regarding their work. They must learn to plan for strategic growth to accommodate the needs of their members. He also extends his appreciation for the contribution of every members.
