ABSTRACT
The article presents a retrospective of the sound mixing industry as the "Mix" magazine celebrates its 30th anniversary in October 2007. It is observed that The Record Plant's Solid State Logic 9000 J has been relatively constant these 30 years. There have been advancements but it is argued that mixing using the computer mouse is difficult is not the way humans were intended to mix music recordings.
