The author highlights the growth of the chemical industry in India in 2006. According to the Ministry of Fertilisers, the country is the third largest fertilizer producer. The author states that there are 57 large fertilizer plants in India, which manufacture a range of nitrogenous, phosphatic and complex fertilizers.
