The article presents the author's comments on the article "How the Twig is Bent: Developing Young Bubble Heads for the Challenges of Command," by M. Dobbs that was published in the June 2007 of the journal. The author comments that the article did not discuss causes behind the increasing number of groundings, collisions, and other navigation problems in submarines. The author states that a quartermaster facilitates safe navigation and his removal from the U.S. Navy would be disastrous.
