The author comments on the International Sleep Products Association's (ISPN) 2006 Mattress Industry report about the 0.2 percent decline in the number of specialty sleep units in the United States. He expresses his confusion over the ISPN statistics following a reported 24.5 percent increased in specialty sleep mattress units in 2005. Specialty sleep manufacturers Tempur-Pedic and Select Comfort comment that the ISPA's monthly report is more accurate than its annual report, and that sales continue to improve.
