ABSTRACT
The author reflects on a study, conducted by D. Menzies and colleagues, which focuses on the diagnostic accuracy of interferon-Γ release assays (IGRAs) for diagnosing latent tuberculosis (TB) in healthy or immunosuppressed persons. He views that the finding of the study that IGRA response decreased with treatment in patients with TB, could have serious implications for using the test to diagnose latent TB in population where empirical treatment for TB is widespread.
