ABSTRACT
The article discusses studies on the measurement and prevention of myocardial injury during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Factors which predict periprocedural myocardial injury include angiographic characteristics, presence of thrombus and the type of antithrombotic therapy used. The use of higher loading doses of thienophyridines has been associated with reduction in myonecrosis.
