The author discusses a philosophy about librarianship. The author pointed out three interrelated themes about librarianship including the library as a cornerstone of a society whose ideals foster the open exchange of ideas and access information. Another are the librarians who occupy an important standing in the society by representing the opportunity for personal enhancement. It is stated that librarianship also deals with the books which can summon a trusty sensation of comfort and awe.
