ABSTRACT
The author reflects on several issues surrounding the fire departments in the U.S. She suggests the fire chiefs or officers to contact their state or federal representatives because the 2007 Fire Grant Applications has been opened. She added that the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) 4.1 will be converted to NFIRS 5.0 due to its expiry in 2009. However, she argues that the Department of Justice (DOJ) does not administer a program that is consistent with the Congressional intent.
