ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the influence of free trade on economic growth. He states that protectionism is jeopardizing passage of two important free trade agreements of the U.S. with Colombia and Peru. He notes that both Colombia and Peru adhere to international labor standards, including those in the U.S. Trade Promotion Authority Act. He asserts that trade will expand much more if these agreements are ratified.
