ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the book "Big-Box Swindle" written by Stacy Mitchell. The author discusses the reasons of the success of Levitz Furniture Warehouse, a big box retailer that sells brands like Kroehler, Singer and others. The author states that the reason for the success of the Levitz is instant gratification of the customers. The author also refers to the tax breaks and subsidies offered by federal, state and local authorities to bring big retail stores to their communities.
