ABSTRACT
The guest editors, representatives of the German Network of Indexers and the Netherlands Indexing Network, introduce the theme of the issue, which is indexing of non-English materials. The articles address translation, typography, personal names and other challenges presented to indexers working with non-English materials including Chinese, Spanish, Persian and Russian items. The authors also discuss ways in which societies of professional indexers can establish themselves and address occupational concerns.
