ABSTRACT
The article reflects on the author's reaction on the initiation protocol that might change the enterprise voice systems. He depicts on the example given by the Cisco session initiation protocol (SIP) program called Call Manager 5.0, which would share and exchange information with other vendors. Cisco quickly launch the Windows-based Call Manager 5.0 which enable them to position themselves in the SIP market. He foresees that SIP would be more interesting and more customers would take advantage on the SIP ability to exchange and share information to compete with the old system of Private Broadcast Exchange. He predicts that SIP would serve more computing power into the phone and load more programs that makes users more comfortable with the device.
