ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the annual Clinician Investigator Program Research Ethics Day held by the University of Toronto's Faculty of Medicine and the Joint Centre for Bioethics. The introductory address was given by Solomon Benatar, professor of medicine at the South Africa-based University of Cape Town, who spoke about social relations, ethics and international research. Sessions on ethical topics include: "Informed Consent: can obtaining it ever be unethical?"; "Research Ethics Board: who wants a million dollar REB application?"; and "Of Genes and Drugs: ethical considerations in pharmacogenetics."
