ABSTRACT
This article discusses various issues related to the shared mechanisms of ischaemic and hemorrhagic stroke. Patients with ischaemic cerebrovascular disease face a greater risk of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and vice versa. It has been found by researchers that in patients with previous ischaemic strokes, older age, hypertension, and current anti-hypertensive treatment are associated with a subsequently increased ICH risk. The results of a study strongly supports the presence of shared mechanisms the presence of shared mechanisms of ischaemic and hemorrhagic events.
