The article presents information about wheelchair pilots. Mike Smith, a chopper pilot in Vietnam, is the president of the International Wheelchair Aviators (IWA), whose members are aviators with disabilities. The organization was founded by Bill Blackwood, a pilot/instructor. Today, numerous wheelchair pilots use hand controls, thanks to Blackwood's persistent efforts. Smith is a perfect successor for Blackwood in the IWA. He had many of the same qualities, including being a gentleman of the first order.
