The article presents information about the furniture industry. January is show month and the main furniture exhibitions seem to take on the cultural personalities of the countries they are held in, regardless of the nationalities of the exhibitors, Cologne was orderly, well-organized, spacious and square--very Germanic! But was it exciting? The influence of the richness and texture of textiles at Frankfurt and in Brussels a few months earlier seems to be translating through to furniture, which can only be a good thing. The reduction of a craft and an art form to the level of a commodity was saddening.
