Assumption that the Republicans would choose to inflict the utmost possible damage on national unity; Efforts of the Republicans to block anti-inflation measures in order to mobilize the support of business profiteers, dissatisfied farmers and individual protesters against rationing; Intentions of the Republicans to abolish compulsory payment of overtime over the forty-hour week.
