ABSTRACT
The article presents a report on the impact factor of the "Thorax" periodical for the year 2003, which has risen to 4.188, and has been ranked second among the conventional respiratory journals. Thorax is very fortunate in having received excellent papers for publication and the rise in the impact factor over the last few years reflects its continuing success story. It expresses gratitude to the previous "Thorax" editors John Britton and Alan Knox for their hard work and contribution to the success of the periodical.
