Editorial. Comments on research conducted by M. Singh, et al, and published in the June 2004 issue of the journal "Mayo Clinic Proceedings," comparing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for acute myocardial infarction (MI) in hospitals with and without on-site cardiac surgical capabilities. Researchers' conclusion that PCI for acute MI can be performed safely and effectively at a hospital without on-site cardiac surgery.
