This article presents forecasts for various economic indicators in Thailand for 2003 and 2004 as of May 2003. Thailand's economic prospects remain bright. Domestic demand is set to remain strong and the country's manufacturing sector has recorded strong gains so far in 2003. External conditions could well worsen with the cost of Gulf war, 2003 weighing down on an the US economy. The Thailand government planning agency, the National Economic and Social Development Board, has revised its real GDP growth forecast to 4%-5% from an earlier estimate of 3.5%-4.5% for 2003.
