ABSTRACT
The article compares the performance of Brazilian and Mexican stock markets. Mexican IPC and Brazilian Bovespa are both highly correlated with U.S. benchmark stock indices. However, the Brazilian market is in better position to withstand the negative effects of global credit market uncertainty. Since August 2007, Bovespa increased by 40 percent, while IPC failed to push above 3 percent.
