ABSTRACT
The article discusses political and economic issues in Hungary. According to a Gallup poll in September 2007, the main opposition party, Fidesz, has continued to expand its lead over the ruling Socialist. The country's unemployment rate for June-August 2007 rose to 7.2 percent from 7.0 percent for the May-July period. Austrian gas and oil firm OMV, raised its bid for its Hungarian counterpart MOL.
