ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the political and economic conditions in Myanmar. According to the author, a collapse of the junta would likely have severe repercussions on the regional economy with the risk of large migrations into western India, Thailand and southern China. He added that Bangkok and Beijing would have a difficult time backing a revolt against an undemocratic regime in their immediate vicinity. He emphasized that the only regional capitals that can criticize the SPDC regime is New Delhi.
