Country Report
The article presents the political risk, economic risk and business environment in Lithuania. Social democrat Rimantas Sadzius was promoted to finance minister in May, almost two months after Zigmantas Balcytis resigned. According to monthly balance of payments data, the current account deficit widened substantially in the first quarter of 2007 and amounted to around 11 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). The government plans to boost GDP share of research spending to 2 percent by 2010.
