ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the economic and political conditions in Poland. The conservative government led by Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski is embroiled in a major row with the European Union over a proposed highway through the eastern Podlasie region. Poland's defeat by extra-governmental institutions has contributed to the government's poor ratings in public opinion polls. It is inferred that a united front on economic policy will perhaps be the most difficult consensus for Poland.
