ABSTRACT
The article provides an update on the condition of the economic and political environment in Estonia in 2006. To decide the outcome of the presidential election race after three separate votes in parliament in late August failed to produce a winner, an electoral college made up of parliamentary deputies and local council representatives will make the decision. Meanwhile, the Estonian employers' confederation is allegedly seeking political backing for a labor exchange with lower-cost Ukraine.
