ABSTRACT
The article provides an update on the condition of the economic and political environment in Hungary. The popularity of opposition Fidesz still polled below 40%, despite the continuing descent of the popularity of the ruling Socialists Party. Meanwhile, the country's new convergence plan does not set a fixed date for euro entry, although it aims to cut the budget deficit to 3.2% of gross domestic product by 2009.
