The article reports on economic developments in Indonesia. A draft legislation enabling political parties in Aceh to come into being without maintaining a presence in Jakarta has been produced by the Indonesian government. Standard & Poor Ratings Services has approved the proposal of the Indonesian government to reduce fuel subsidy. Indonesia ranks 16th in the Asia business environment rankings due to its market orientation, infrastructure and institutions.
