ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the political and economic risks in Lithuania as of February 2006. A proposal to control the profits of gas companies was made by the Labour Party. Household consumption in the country increased by about 12% in the third quarter of 2005. The average profitability of Lithuanian companies is higher compared with its counterparts in Estonia and Latvia based on a survey conducted by consultants Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler.
