Country Report
Country Report
The article presents information on the political and economic conditions prevailing in Laos. It is expected that Laos will remain broadly stable in the short and medium term, including in the run-up to the party congress of 2006. Although the possibility of periodic bomb blasts and attacks on passenger buses cannot be ruled out, yet the situation of low level instability is unlikely to worsen. On economic front, although the year-on-year inflation have remained in single figures in 2005, but there is a moderate to high risk of inflation returning to double digits in 2006.
