The article presents an economic outlook of Poland. Poland managed to record a healthy current account surplus in the year to May, underpinned by surging growth in merchandise exports and, to a lesser extent, net inflows from the EU budget. The National Bank of Poland has reported that the international trade deficit contracted by approximately 55% year-on-year in the first seven months of 2005, is to reach EUR1.36 billion. One of the most encouraging aspects of this is that export growth comfortably outpaced the rate of increase in imports. In euro terms, exports rose by 16.6% year-on-year in the January-July period, dominating the 11.0% year-on-year growth seen in imports.
