The article discusses political and economic risks related to Latvia. Latvia's health care system is woefully underfunded by EU standards, and the government identified solving the healthcare crisis as its main priority when it took office last December. The nation's central bank has expressed some concern about the structural composition of GDP growth. The bank has pointed out that the easing of industrial output growth that started in late 2004 continues to persist, with manufacturing production contracting for the first time in five years in Q1. The government has decided to sell its remaining shares in oil transit concern Ventspils Nafta.
