ABSTRACT
The article discusses political and economic risks related to Slovakia. As anticipated, the opposition has kept up the pressure on the minority administration, which has been beset by a series of internal squabbles. Economy Minister Pavol Rusko's warning that Slovakia could miss out on SKK100bn (over US$3bn) in foreign direct investment and 25,000 new jobs appears somewhat alarmist. The claim comes in the context of a coalition disagreement over incentives for foreign investors, with the finance ministry keen to scale back the use of incentives paid directly out of the budget.
