This article focuses on how the Cambodian government was forced to close its border with Thailand after the Thai government moved around 400 soldiers into the disputed region. The Thai government has withdrawn troops from its border with Cambodia, while the Cambodian government has agreed to reopen the border, after a dispute between the two countries over the site of an ancient temple. The border crossing near the Preah Vihear temple was initially closed on May 17, 2005 after Thailand moved troops in the area.
