ABSTRACT
This article focuses on political, economic and business risks in Vietnam. Vietnam has jailed three hill tribesmen for up to eight years for stirring unrest in the Central Highlands area, underlining the simmering tension in the region. The International Monetary Fund has raised its forecast for inflation in Vietnam this year to 7.5 percent, from 7.0 percent, well above the government's targeted 6.5 percent. Vietnam will start its first zinc plant by the end of 2005, aiming to meet about half of national demand for the anti-corrosive metal according to government officials.
