ABSTRACT
The article reports that Poland's bilateral relations with neighboring Belarus have deteriorated appreciably in the light of the expulsion of a Polish diplomat from the Belarussian capital, Minsk. The broader political context to this situation is growing fallout over the position of Polish citizens living in Belarus. In May 2005, the Belarussian authorities asked Polish First Secretary Marek Bucko to leave the country, amid accusations that his government was inciting Belarus's Polish minority to rise up against President Aleksander Lukashenko.
