ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the economic, political and business risks assessed in Latvia for 2005. The Latvia-Russia border treaty issue, which is of interest to both the European Union and North Atlantic Treaty Organization, continues to rumble on. Both governments had indicated they were prepared to sign the treaty in May but Russia now says a signing ceremony will not take place due to Latvia's decision to attach an explanatory declaration to the treaty. Latvia's real estate market continued to expand briskly in 2004, according to figures published by the Central Statistical Bureau.
