ABSTRACT
The article presents information on Vietnam's industrial sector. The sector grew by 10.6% year on year (y-o-y) in the first nine months of 2004. Agricultural growth for the first nine months of 2004 was 2.3%. The poultry and livestock sector shrank by 6.2% y-o-y in the first quarter and 2.2% in second quarter. The sector would have been even worse hit, had it not been for strong growth in some substitute livestock products, which helped make up for the sharp fall in poultry production. Prime Minister Phan Van Khai has said that Vietnam's economy will grow by 7.6% in 2004, fulfilling the government's target set at the beginning of the year of 7.5-8% growth.
