Country Report
The article presents information on political and economic conditions in Thailand. Thailand's royal family, which rarely gets publicly involved in politics, has called for greater efforts to restore peace in the country's increasingly bloody Muslim south. Thailand's constitutional monarch has few formal powers. Thailand's short-term political risk rating remains on 64.0, following last month's two point downgrade caused by the worsening political situation in the country. Thailand has announced it will delay the purchase of U.S.$2 billion worth of Airbus aircraft until the European Union eases food import restrictions.
