ABSTRACT
The article provides information about economical, political and business development news related to Poland. After a six-year legal battle, a Polish court has ruled that parliamentary speaker Jozef Oleksy, who was preparing to lead the governing the political party SLD in spring elections, concealed his collaboration with the country's communistera secret services. In view of improving fiscal performance over the course of 2004, and the recent strength of the national currency, the fiscal authorities plan to repay debt accrued to the Paris Club of sovereign creditors. Dutch insurer Eureko has acquired a 10% stake in Polish insurance company PZU from Bank Millennium, the Polish unit of Portuguese financial institution Banco Comercial Portugues.
