ABSTRACT
Saudi Arabia's relations with Yemen are experiencing renewed tensions, as the Saudi government has begun construction of a wall along the border, which may violate the 2000 Jeddah Accord on border demarcation. The move indicates Saudi scepticism of the Yemeni government's ability to ensure border security, and the lack of consultation between the two countries prior to the start of construction does not suggest a high level of mutual respect. This is embarrassing for the government, particularly given its hopes for increased integration with its Gulf Co-operation Council neighbours, and could undermine the bilateral security co-operation, which has increased in recent years.
