Country Risk Summary: ZIMBABWE

Country Report
Country Report
The article presents political risk of Zimbabwe. Any prospect of meaningful negotiations between the government and the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) is distant at best. South Africa, which has put itself forward as an informal honest broker, does not seem to be hurrying either side, but then the MDC is not doing much to push things along either, as it once again seems to have lowered the rhetoric of mass action and other possible pressure. The government has announced that it is suspending privatizations. The news is a complete non-event as there is no investor interest in bankrupt and politically contaminated parastatals like the national oil and electricity companies.
