ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the status of baht, the currency of Thailand as of January 2004. The Thailand government has recently introduced new regulations aimed at stemming the appreciation of the Thai currency. The upward pressure on the Thai baht is a reflection of the improving fundamentals of the Thai economy. Because strong export growth is one of the main drivers of economic growth in Thailand any further appreciation of the currency, leading to further erosion of export competitiveness, may cause a slowdown in growth.
