ABSTRACT
ABN Amro Asia Securities (AST), which is part of Dutch banking group ABN Amro NV, has announced plans to merge with local Asset Plus Securities PLC in a THB12bn deal which would create Thailand's largest brokerage company. These companies hope to complete the merger, which is awaiting shareholder and regulatory approval, by March 2004. AST, which is Thailand's second largest broker in terms of revenues, is offering 1.083333 shares for each Asset Plus share, which ranks eight in terms of revenues and is strong in investment banking and advisory services.
