ABSTRACT
In this article, the author discusses effect of weather on cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality. Topics discussed include increase in winter mortality being mostly due to respiratory infections and seasonal influenza, use of statistical methodology for accounting for complex temperature-mortality relationship, higher risk of acute myocardial infarction associated with infections occurring in influenza time period and decrease in CVD mortality through air conditioning.
