ABSTRACT
A case report is presented on a 54-year-old man who is an ex-smoker, has a deficiency of the serpin α1-antitrypsin (AAT), and chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) with polyposis. The potential role of ATT enzyme deficiency in this man's CRS is discussed. Treatment with vancomycin, ceftriaxone, and fluconazole before endoscopic sinus surgery using a modified Lothrop technique is mentioned. The authors' suggest that genetic polymorphisms in AAT might be a factor in CRS.
