ABSTRACT
The article presents a case study of a thirty-six-year old male surgeon and triathlete. The patient had a six-month history of left hip pain, which have been evaluated by several physicians but seen no improvement. His condition has improved after being treated with arthroscopic reduction and internal fixation. The patient can now perform light stationary cycling and swimming.

Background: Subcapital hip fractures in younger patients are generally treated with internal fixation rather than with primary hemiarthroplasty, which is generally reserved for older, low-demand patients. Avascular necrosis can occur following this injury because of disruption of the femoral...

This study looks for the first time at outcomes of arthroscopic hip surgeries in dancers. The subjects were thirty dancers, mean age 20.1 years (range: 14.1 to 38 years), each of whom had undergone arthroscopic debridement of a hip labral tear at least five months prior to follow-up (range: 5 to...

Introduction: The osteosynthesis of intracapsular hip fractures results in a 19-48% failure rate. Only when the anatomical reduction is secured by stable fixation, revascularisation of the femoral head can take place and the fracture can heal by primary osteonal reconstruction. The common...

The aim of this study was the evaluation of contralateral hip fractures after a previous hip fracture. Osteoporotic hip fractures are common in our setting. Poor bone quality favors complications of the osteosynthesis procedures used to treat these patients. Lag-screw cut-out through the femoral head is not uncommon (2%), but pull-out of side plate screws is very unusual. We present the case of a...
