ABSTRACT
The article provides historical facts related to Texas. On January 26, 1945, Texan soldier and hero Audie Murphy single-handedly killed or wounded German soldiers in Holtzwihr, France. Also, on January 26, 1837, the steamship Laura navigated up the Buffalo Bayou with a load of prospective buyers for lots in the city of Houston. But the Laura steamed past the town because vegetation was so dense.
